I Loved The City, But The City Didn’t Love Me

I asked for morning sun rays
Instead she gave me morning showers
I expected to come outside and walk through grass
Trees and daisies
Those expectations were replaced with barren land
And concrete ground
I opened my arms to welcome the fresh air from the outdoors
And coughed up fumes and gas
